Ready, Set, Learn at Ranchero Elementary
On Wednesday, January 28, 2026, families gathered at Ranchero Elementary for an engaging Ready, Set, Learn session filled with curiosity, creativity, and playful learning.
The school library was transformed into a welcoming early learning space where children and parents/caregivers explored a variety of hands‑on activity stations together. Children sorted colourful pom‑poms, wooden shapes, and loose parts into baskets and trays, building early math concepts, problem‑solving skills, and fine motor coordination through open‑ended play. Nearby, creative tables invited children to draw, glue, and decorate, proudly sharing their artwork with family members and staff.
Imaginative play emerged naturally as children began creating their own “hide and seek” game using play characters and small toys, carefully tucking them between baskets, books, and materials around the room.
Books and early literacy supports were woven throughout the session, with children browsing picture books and engaging in activities that encouraged conversation, curiosity, and a love of reading. Families joined in alongside their children, modeling simple and meaningful ways to support learning at home.
Ready, Set, Learn is a free, province‑wide initiative offered by our District to support families of children ages three to five. The program provides playful learning experiences, helps children become familiar with school environments, and connects families with local resources and early learning supports.
The Ranchero Elementary session captured the heart of Ready, Set, Learn by highlighting children learning through exploration, creativity, and shared joy as they built confidence and positive connections on their journey toward school.
